০৬. A student is a learner. He must mind his studies first. He should go through his home work and attend school regularly. A good student needs to know a lot even outside his prescribed textbooks. He loves knowledge for the sake of knowledge. He loves his teachers as he loves his parents.

বঙ্গানুবাদ: বাংলাদেশ এখন একটি স্বাধীন দেশ। গত পঁচিশ বছর তাকে অনেক কষ্ট করতে হয়েছে। কিন্তু এখন তার কষ্টের দিন শেষ হয়েছে। সে এখন সমৃদ্ধির দুয়ারে পদার্পণ করতে যাচ্ছে। বাংলাদেশের স্বর্ণভূমি আবারো সুখ ও সমৃদ্ধিতে ভরে উঠবে।

৮. Bangladesh is a beautiful country. To its south there is a deep blue sea, hills to the north and river washed fertile land in the midst of it. There are gas and oil resources under its soil. As if it is floating on oil. It has also powerful manpower. So the attention of the whole world is at Bangladesh.

বঙ্গানুবাদ: বাংলাদেশ একটি সুন্দর দেশ। এর দক্ষিণে গভীর নীল সাগর, উত্তর দিকে রয়েছে পাহাড়সমূহ এবং এর মধ্যটাকে ধুয়ে-মুছে উর্বর করেছে নদ-নদী। এর মাটির নিচে গ্যাস ও তেল সম্পদ রয়েছে। দেশটি যেন তেলের ওপর ভাসছে। এর আরও রয়েছে শক্তিশালী মানবসম্পদ। তাই পুরো বিশ্বের নজর বাংলাদেশের প্রতি ।

১০. Bengali language has a glorious tradition. In this country, students and people laid down their lives to keep the honour of our language. Those martyrs are the pride of our nation and history.

বঙ্গানুবাদ: বাংলা ভাষার রয়েছে গৌরবোজ্জ্বল ঐতিহ্য। এদেশে ছাত্র-জনতা আমাদের ভাষার মান রাখতে জীবন দিয়েছে। সেই শহিদেরা আমাদের ইতিহাস ও জাতির গর্ব।

১১. Bangladesh declared independence on 26 March 1971. It became free from Pakistan on 16 December 1971 after a great liberation war. It is a democratic country with many kinds of people. Bangladesh is also a beautiful country with many resources. It has rich deposit of oil, gas and coal. It can utilize these resources and become prosperous.

বঙ্গানুবাদ: ১৯৭১ সালের ২৬শে মার্চ বাংলাদেশ স্বাধীনতা ঘোষণা করে। এক মহান মুক্তিযুদ্ধের মাধ্যমে এটি ১৯৭১ সালের ১৬ই ডিসেম্বর পাকিস্তান হতে মুক্ত হয়। এটি বিভিন্ন ধরনের লোকের সংমিশ্রণে গঠিত একটি গণতান্ত্রিক রাষ্ট্র । এছাড়াও বাংলাদেশ প্রচুর সম্পদে সমৃদ্ধ একটি সুন্দর দেশ। এর তেল, গ্যাস ও কয়লার বিশাল মজুদ রয়েছে। এসব সম্পদের সদ্ব্যবহার করতে পারলে আমাদের দেশ হবে সমৃদ্ধ।

১২. Books are men's best companion in life. You must have very good friends but you cannot get them when you need them. They may not speak gently to you. One or two may prove false and do you much harm. But books are always ready to be by your side. Some books may make you laugh. বঙ্গানুবাদ: বই মানুষের জীবনে সর্বোৎকৃষ্ট সঙ্গী। তোমার অবশ্যই অনেক ভালো বন্ধু আছে কিন্তু তোমার প্রয়োজনের সময় তুমি তাদেরকে পাবে না। তারা তোমার সাথে ভদ্রভাবে কথা নাও বলতে পারে। দু'একজন মেকি প্রমাণিত হতে পারে এবং তোমার অনেক ক্ষতিও করতে পারে। কিন্তু বই সর্বদাই তোমার পাশে থাকার জন্য প্রস্তুত। কিছু বই তোমাকে হাসাতে পারে । অন্য কিছু বই তোমাকে আনন্দ দিতে পারে।

১৩. Books introduce us into the best society; they bring us into the presence of the greatest minds that have ever lived. We hear what they said and did. We see them as if they are really alive. We are participators in their thoughts, we sympathise with them, grieve with them and we feel as if we were major actors in the scenes which they describe. বঙ্গানুবাদ: বই আমাদের উৎকৃষ্ট সমাজের সাথে পরিচয় করিয়ে দেয়; পৌঁছে দেয় চিরঞ্জীব মহান হৃদয়ের অধিকারীদের কাছে। আমরা শুনি যা তারা বলেছেন এবং করেছেন। মনে হয় প্রকৃত অর্থেই আমরা তাঁদের জীবিত দেখি। আমরা তাঁদের চিন্তার অংশীদার, আমরা তাঁদের প্রতি সহমর্মিতা জ্ঞাপন করি। তাঁদের সাথে শোকাহত হই এবং অনুভব করি যেন যে দৃশ্য তাঁরা বর্ণনা করেছেন আমরা তার প্রধান অভিনেতা। মহান ও বিখ্যাত ব্যক্তিরা কখনো মৃত্যুবরণ করেন না। বইয়ের প্রতীকে বইয়ে যে বার্তা ঘুরে বেড়ায় তাই জীবন্ত কণ্ঠস্বর।

১৪. Bangladesh is an independent state. She is mainly an agricultural country. She depends on agriculture for her existence. The peasants who produce valuable raw materials for the country live in villages. The prosperity of the villages means the prosperity of this cultivators. A prosperous peasantry brings prosperity to the country as a whole.

বঙ্গানুবাদ: বাংলাদেশ একটি স্বাধীন রাষ্ট্র। এটি মূলত একটি কৃষিপ্রধান দেশ। অস্তিত্ব টিকিয়ে রাখতে এটি কৃষির উপরই নির্ভর করে । দেশের জন্য মূল্যবান কাঁচামাল উৎপাদনকারী কৃষকেরা গ্রামে বসবাস করে। কৃষকের সমৃদ্ধি মানেই গ্রামের সমৃদ্ধি। সমৃদ্ধশালী। কৃষক সম্প্রদায় সামগ্রিকভাবে দেশের সমৃদ্ধি বয়ে আনে ।

১৫. Bangladesh has its own National flag. It stands for our sovereignty and is the symbol of our national pride and prestige. It is the symbol of our national hopes and ideals. All the Bangladeshi is honour the National Flag. It is also honoured by people of all other coutries of the world as we do their National Flag.

বঙ্গানুবাদ; বাংলাদেশের নিজস্ব জাতীয় পতাকা রয়েছে। এটি আমাদের সার্বভৌমত্ব এবং জাতীয় গৌরব ও সম্মানের প্রতীক । এটি আমাদের জাতীয় আশা ও আদর্শের প্রতীক। সকল বাংলাদেশি জাতীয় পতাকাকে সম্মান করে। পৃথিবীর অন্য সকল দেশের লোকজন কর্তৃকও এটিকে সম্মান প্রদর্শন করে যেমন করে আমরা তাদের জাতীয় পতাকাকে সম্মান করি ।

১৬. Books are always to be by your side. Some books may make you laugh. Some others may give you much pleasure and others again give you Knowledge and new ideas. 

বঙ্গানুবাদ: বই সবসময়ই তোমার পাশে থাকে। কিছু বই হাসির খোরাক জোগায় । আবার কিছু বই অনাবিল আনন্দ দেয়, কিছু বই জ্ঞান এবং নতুন নতুন ধারণা দিয়ে থাকে।

১৭. Can you say why Bangladesh came out victorious in this war? There are two Reasons. First, the people of Bangladesh believed that they fought for freedom of the nation. They fought in the name of the freedom of our homeland Bangladesh. The Pakistanis were defeated because they wanted to take the country of others. Second, we had a very great leader. বি. বো. ১৬/ 

বঙ্গানুবাদ: বলতে পার কেন বাংলাদেশ এই যুদ্ধে বিজয়ী হয়েছিল? এর দুটি কারণ আছে । প্রথমত, বাংলাদেশের মানুষ বিশ্বাস করেছিল যে তাঁরা জাতির স্বাধীনতার জন্য যুদ্ধ করেছেন। তাঁরা আমাদের মাতৃভূমি বাংলাদেশের স্বাধীনতার নামে যুদ্ধ করেছিল। পাকিস্তানিরা পরাজিত হয়েছিল কারণ তারা অন্যের দেশ দখল করতে চেয়েছিল। দ্বিতীয়ত, আমাদের একজন মহান নেতা ছিল ।

১৮. Computer is one of the greatest inventions of modern science. At present, has become a part and parcel of modern life. the computer can perform the tasks of thousands of men in a very short time. There are such computers able to solve lacs of problems within a few seconds. It can run a business, play chess or even compose music. It has brought revolutionary changes our life.

বঙ্গানুবাদ: আধুনিক বিজ্ঞানের অন্যতম শ্রেষ্ঠ আবিষ্কার কম্পিউটার। বর্তমানে এটা আমাদের আধুনিক জীবনের অবিচ্ছেদ্য অংশে পরিণত হয়েছে। কম্পিউটার খুব স্বল্প সময়ে হাজার হাজার মানুষের কাজ সম্পন্ন করতে পারে। এমন কম্পিউটার আছে যা কয়েক সেকেন্ডের মধ্যে লক্ষ লক্ষ সমস্যা সমাধানে সক্ষম। কম্পিউটার ব্যবসা পরিচালনা করতে পারে, দাবা খেলতে পারে এমন কি গান রচনা করতে পারে। এটা আমাদের জীবনে বৈপ্লবিক পরিবর্তন এনেছে ।

বঙ্গানুবাদ: অসৎ ব্যক্তি কখনও বিশ্বস্ত হয় না । তারা সফলতা অর্জন করতে অসততার আশ্রয় নেয়। তারা চিরতরে অসততা লুকাতে পারে না। আগে পরে এটা প্রকাশ পায়ই। তারা অন্যদের একবার বা দুবার প্রতারিত করে। কিন্তু তারা যদি একবার অসৎ হিসেবে পরিচিত হয় তাহলে আর কখনোই বিশ্বাসী হবে না ।

২০. Education is the backbone of a nation. No progress can be possible without education. Ignorance is like darkness. So the light of education is necessary for society. Everybody will have to appreciate this truth. Students both boys and girls must be conscious of their responsibility. বঙ্গানুবাদ: শিক্ষা একটি জাতির মেরুদণ্ড। শিক্ষা ছাড়া কোনো অগ্রগতি সম্ভব নয় । অজ্ঞতা অন্ধকারতুল্য । সমাজের জন্য তাই শিক্ষার আলো দরকার। প্রত্যেককে এই সত্য উপলব্ধি করতে হবে । ছাত্রছাত্রী উভয়কেই তাদের দায়িত্ব সম্পর্কে সচেতন হতে হবে । তা না হলে জাতি আশার আলো দেখতে সমর্থ হবে না ।

২১. Education is an important in our personal, Social and national life for some reasons. Firstly, no nation can progress without education, Education is said to be the backbone of a nation. So a nation becomes paralysed without education. Today we find that the nation which is more educated is more developed. If the people of a nation are educated, they remain conscious about their responsibilities towards people and nation and can perform their duties accordingly. Secondly, education is very much essential for the person and makes him worthly to meet challenges. It broadens our outlook and teaches us patience and universal brotherhood. Thirdly, education also essential for our family life.

বঙ্গানুবাদ: বেশকিছু কারণে আমাদের ব্যক্তিগত, সামাজিক এবং রাষ্ট্রীয় জীবনে শিক্ষা গুরুত্বপূর্ণ । প্রথমত, শিক্ষা ছাড়া কোনো জাতিই উন্নতি করতে পারে না। শিক্ষাকে জাতির মেরুদণ্ড বলা হয়। তাই শিক্ষা ছাড়া জাতি অচল হয়ে পড়ে। বর্তমানে আমরা দেখি যে জাতি যত বেশি শিক্ষিত সে জাতি তত বেশি উন্নত। একটি জাতির জনগণ যদি শিক্ষিত হয় তবে তারা দেশের প্রতি তাদের দায়িত্ব সম্পর্কে সচেতন থাকে এবং তাদের দায়িত্ব সঠিকভাবে পালন করতে পারে। দ্বিতীয়ত, ব্যক্তির বাধাকে অতিক্রম করার জন্য যোগ্য হয়ে উঠতে শিক্ষা খুবই প্রয়োজন। ইহা আমাদের দৃষ্টিভঙ্গি প্রসারিত করে এবং আমাদের ধৈর্য ও বিশ্বভ্রাতৃত্বের শিক্ষা দেয়। তৃতীয়ত, পারিবারিক জীবনের জন্যও শিক্ষা খুবই গুরুত্বপূর্ণ

বঙ্গানুবাদ: ভালো বই জ্ঞান ও বিচক্ষণতার ভাণ্ডার। যে কেউ, যার চাবি আছে, সে এসব ভাণ্ডারে প্রবেশ করতে পারে এবং নিজেকে সাহায্য করতে পারে। চাবিটি কী? সহজ কথায় পড়ার যোগ্যতা। যে পড়তে পারে সে-ই বিশ্বের মহান চিন্তাবিদগণের মহৎ চিন্তার দ্বারা তার মনকে পরিপূর্ণ করতে পারে। যে ব্যক্তি কখনো বই খোলেনি তার মন অন্তঃসারশূন্য ।

২৬. Honesty is a great virtue. If you do not deceive others, if you do not tell a lie, if you are strictly just and fair in your dealing with other's, you are an honest man. Honesty is the best policy. An honest man is respected by all. No one can prosper in life if he is not honest. 

বঙ্গানুবাদ: সততা একটি মহৎ গুণ। যদি তুমি কাউকে প্রতারিত না করো, যদি তুমি মিথ্যা কথা না বলো, যদি তুমি অন্যদের সাথে পুরোপুরি সঠিক ও সুন্দর ব্যবহার করো, তাহলে তুমি একজন সৎ মানুষ। সততাই সর্বোৎকৃষ্ট পন্থা। একজন সৎ মানুষ সকলের দ্বারা সম্মানিত হয়। কেউ জীবনে উন্নতি করতে পারে না, যদি সে সৎ না হয় ।

29. Industry is the root of development. It is not possible to achieve anything great without hard work. Our Bangladesh is a poor country, but we take pride in calling it golden Bengal. Hard work is necessary to make it into golden Bengal truly. The people of the developed countries are very hard working. On the contrary, many of us are lazy and averse to hard work. 

বঙ্গানুবাদ: পরিশ্রম উন্নতির মূল । বিনা পরিশ্রমে কোনো মহৎ কাজ সাধন করা সম্ভব নয় । আমাদের বাংলাদেশ একটি দরিদ্র দেশ কিন্তু আমরা একে সোনার বাংলা বলে গর্ব করি। সত্যিকার সোনার বাংলা গড়ে তুলতে কঠোর পরিশ্রম প্রয়োজন। উন্নত দেশের অধিবাসীরা অত্যন্ত পরিশ্রমী। পক্ষান্তরে, আমরা অনেকেই অলস ও কর্মবিমুখ।

২৯. Home is the first school where the child learns his first lessons. The first lessons are very important for the development of his mind. He sees, hears and begins to learn at home. It is home that builds his character. In a good home honest and healthy men are made. / া.বো, ০৫; দি.বো. ১৬/

বঙ্গানুবাদ: গৃহ শিশুর প্রথম পাঠশালা যেখানে সে তার প্রথম পাঠ শেখে। তার মানসিক উন্নয়নে এই প্রথম পাঠ অত্যন্ত গুরুত্বপূর্ণ। সে দেখে, শোনে এবং এভাবেই গৃহে শিখতে আরম্ভ করে। গৃহ হচ্ছে সেই জায়গা যা তার চরিত্র গঠন করে। একটি আদর্শ গৃহই সৎ ও স্বাস্থ্যবান মানুষ তৈরি করে ।

৩০. Honesty is the best policy. The value of honesty is very, great. It wins love, respect and fearlessness. Honesty is a noble virtu. It is the secret of success in every sphere of life.

বঙ্গানুবাদ: সততা সর্বোৎকৃষ্ট পন্থা। সততার মূল্য অনেক বেশি। এটা ভালোবাসা, শ্রদ্ধা এবং নির্ভীকতাকে জয় করতে পারে । সততা একটি মহৎ গুণ। জীবনের প্রতিটি ক্ষেত্রে সাফল্যের গোপন রহস্য হচ্ছে সততা ।

৩১. It is to books that I owe everything that is good in me. Even In my youth, I realized that art is more generous than people are. I am a book-lover, each one of them seems miracle to me and the author the magician. I am unable to speak of books without using the deepest emotion and joyous enthusiasm. That may seem ridiculous but it is the truth.

বঙ্গানুবাদ: আমার ভিতরে যা কিছু ভালো আছে তার জন্য আমি বইয়ের কাছে ঋণী। এমনকি আমি আমার তরুণ বয়সে অনুধাবন করেছি যে, মানুষের চেয়ে শিল্প বেশি উদার। আমি একজন বইপ্রেমী, লেখক এবং জাদুকরের মধ্যে প্রত্যেককেই আমার কাছে অলৌকিক মনে হয়েছে। আমি গভীর আবেগ ও আনন্দময় উৎসাহ ব্যতীত কোনো বই সম্পর্কে বলতে পারি না। হাস্যকর মনে হলেও এটাই সত্য ।

৩২. Here is my mother. There is none else like my mother. How affectionate she is to me! She always takes care of me. If I fall ill, mother grows very anxious.

বঙ্গানুবাদ: এই আমার মা। আমার মায়ের মতো আর কেউ নেই । আমার প্রতি তিনি কত না স্নেহশীল ! তিনি সর্বদা আমার যত্ন নেন । আমি অসুস্থ হলে মা বড়ই চিন্তিত হন ।

৩৩. In this life there are no gains without pains. Life indeed, would be dull if there were no difficulties. Games lose their rest, if there is no struggle and if the result is a forgone conclusion. Both winner and loser enjoy a game most if it is closely contested to the last.

বঙ্গানুবাদ: কষ্ট ছাড়া এ জীবনে কিছুই অর্জিত হয় না। বাধা-বিঘ্ন না থাকলে প্রকৃতপক্ষে জীবন একঘেয়ে হয়ে পড়ত। খেলায় যদি প্রতিযোগিতা না থাকে আর তার ফলাফল পূর্বনির্ধারিত হয় তবে সে খেলা তার মজা হারিয়ে ফেলে। খেলায় প্রতিদ্বন্দ্বিতা তীব্র হলে বিজয়ী এবং বিজিত উভয় দলই দারুণভাবে খেলা উপভোগ করে ।

৩৪. It is very difficult to b e great. Some qualities are required to become great. Honesty and Courage are two of them. People of former times possessed these qualities. Now these qualities are very rare.

বঙ্গানুবাদ: মহৎ হওয়া খুব কষ্টকর। মহৎ হতে হলে কিছু ভালো গুণ অর্জন করতে হয়। সততা আর সাহসিকতা এদের দুটি। অতীতে মানুষ এ সকল গুণের অধিকারী ছিল। এখন এসব গুণ খুবই দুর্লভ ।
