Our National Festivals Essay in English

Festivals have always been integral parts of our tradition and culture. We have a number of national festivals and we celebrate them throughout the year with traditional festivities. People from all walks of the society take part in these festivals with national fervour.

National festivals of our country can be divided into some major divisions. Some of our national Testivals are related to our history of Independence and Language Movement, some are related to our religions and the rests are related to our art, culture and other national interests. Whatever may be the occasion, people irrespective of religion, caste and creed join these festivals spontaneously. Independence Day and International Mother Language Day are the two most important national festivals which are related to our history of Independence and the Language Movement. 26 March is the Independence Day and it is the biggest national festival of our country. 

On this day we remember the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for our freedom by offering floral wreaths at the National Mausoleum. 21 February is the International Mother Language Day and it is celebrated all over the world to remember the language martyrs and give equal importance to all languages. The national festivals which are related to our religions are Eid-ul-Fitr, Eid-ul-Azha. Durga Puja, Christmas. Buddha Purnima etc. 

Although these festivals are related to different religions, they are declared as public holidays and people enjoy them with religious harmony. Pahela Baishakhsthe first day of Bangla New Year) on 14 April, Birth anniversary of the noble laureate Rabindranath Tagore on 25 Baishakh and that of the National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam on 11th Jaystha are observed throughout the country as national festivals. We also observe some other national festivals relating to our culture and tradition.

Our national festivals give us enormous, pleasure. We celebrate them together and renew our pledge to build our nation. These festivals take us closer to each other. They make us think as one nation: We should continue the traditional celebrations of our national festivals.

আমাদের দেশের জাতীয় উৎসবগুলোকে কয়েকটি প্রধান ভাগে ভাগ করা যায়। আমাদের জাতীয় প্রমাণের কিছু আমাদের স্বাধীনতা ও ভাষা আন্দোলনের ইতিহাসের সাথে সম্পর্কিত, কিছু আমাদের ধর্মের সাথে সম্পর্কিত এবং বাকিগুলি আমাদের শিল্প, সংস্কৃতি এবং অন্যান্য জাতীয় স্বার্থের সাথে সম্পর্কিত। উপলক্ষ যাই হোক না কেন, ধর্ম-বর্ণ নির্বিশেষে মানুষ স্বতঃস্ফূর্তভাবে এই উৎসবে যোগ দেয়। স্বাধীনতা দিবস এবং আন্তর্জাতিক মাতৃভাষা দিবস দুটি সবচেয়ে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ জাতীয় উৎসব যা আমাদের স্বাধীনতা ও ভাষা আন্দোলনের ইতিহাসের সাথে সম্পর্কিত। ২৬ মার্চ স্বাধীনতা দিবস এবং এটি আমাদের দেশের সবচেয়ে বড় জাতীয় উৎসব।

এই দিনে আমরা জাতীয় স্মৃতিসৌধে পুষ্পস্তবক অর্পণের মাধ্যমে স্বাধীনতার জন্য জীবন উৎসর্গকারী শহীদদের স্মরণ করি। ২১ ফেব্রুয়ারি আন্তর্জাতিক মাতৃভাষা দিবস এবং ভাষা শহীদদের স্মরণে এবং সকল ভাষাকে সমান গুরুত্ব দিতে সারা বিশ্বে পালিত হয়। আমাদের ধর্মের সাথে সম্পর্কিত জাতীয় উৎসব হল ঈদুল ফিতর, ঈদুল আজহা। দুর্গাপূজা, বড়দিন। বুদ্ধ পূর্ণিমা ইত্যাদি।

আমাদের জাতীয় উত্সব আমাদের প্রচুর আনন্দ দেয়। আমরা তাদের একসাথে উদযাপন করি এবং আমাদের জাতি গঠনের প্রতিশ্রুতি পুনর্নবীকরণ করি। এই উৎসবগুলো আমাদের একে অপরের কাছাকাছি নিয়ে যায়। তারা আমাদেরকে এক জাতি হিসেবে ভাবতে বাধ্য করে: আমাদের জাতীয় উৎসবের ঐতিহ্যবাহী উদযাপন অব্যাহত রাখা উচিত।
