An Interesting Football Match Essay

Football is undoubtedly one of the most popular games all over world. It is not my favourite game. but I enjoy FIFA World Cup matches as well as local tournaments. Last Friday. I had an opportunity to enjoy an interesting football match played between Dhaka division and Khulna Division. Two of my friends accompanied me. 

The match was played at Khulna Zilla School ground. The entire ground was decorated with colourful papers and balloons. The gallery was packed to full. Both the teams entered the ground and the match began with the whistle from the referee. Players of Dhaka Division started to play aggressively from the very beginning. They dominated the first half of the match. They tried to break through the defenses of Khulna Division but could not score a goal. So, the half-time score was 0-0. We were supporting Khulna Division and a bit disappointed at the performance of our team. 

The scenario changed totally after half-time. Khulna Division started attacking game and within a few minutes of the second half, they turned the match in their favour. The whole gallery was supporting them. They made several attempts to score a goal. The goalkeeper of Dhaka Division was equally strong. fie along with his defenders thwarted the attacks of Khulna .Division. But, he was fooled by a striker of Khulna Division. The striker had a shot into the goal posts from a good distance. The goalkeeper thought it would fly over the goal bar, but the ball turned sharply and entered into the goalposts. The goal was scored at 65 minute into the game and that was the decider though both teams made some more futile attempts. 

The match was very exciting and thrilling till the last•minute of the play. I enjoyed it very much. It will remain in my memory for a long time.

ম্যাচটি অনুষ্ঠিত হয় খুলনা জিলা স্কুল মাঠে। রঙিন কাগজ আর বেলুন দিয়ে সাজানো হয়েছে পুরো মাঠ। গ্যালারি পরিপূর্ণ ছিল. দুই দলই মাঠে প্রবেশ করলে রেফারির বাঁশিতে ম্যাচ শুরু হয়। শুরু থেকেই আক্রমণাত্মক খেলতে থাকে ঢাকা বিভাগের খেলোয়াড়রা। ম্যাচের প্রথমার্ধে তাদের আধিপত্য ছিল। খুলনা বিভাগের রক্ষণভাগ ভেদ করার চেষ্টা করলেও গোল করতে পারেনি তারা। তাই, হাফ টাইম স্কোর ছিল ০-০। আমরা খুলনা বিভাগকে সমর্থন করছিলাম এবং আমাদের দলের পারফরম্যান্সে কিছুটা হতাশ।

হাফ টাইমের পর দৃশ্যপট পুরোপুরি পাল্টে যায়। খুলনা বিভাগ আক্রমণাত্মক খেলা শুরু করে এবং দ্বিতীয়ার্ধের কয়েক মিনিটের মধ্যেই তারা ম্যাচটি নিজেদের পক্ষে করে দেয়। পুরো গ্যালারি তাদের সমর্থন করছিল। গোলের জন্য তারা বেশ কয়েকবার চেষ্টা করে। ঢাকা বিভাগের গোলরক্ষকও ছিলেন সমান শক্তিশালী। ফাই তার রক্ষকদের সাথে খুলনা ডিভিশনের আক্রমণ নস্যাৎ করে। কিন্তু, খুলনা বিভাগের একজন স্ট্রাইকার তাকে বোকা বানিয়েছেন। বেশ দূর থেকে গোলপোস্টে শট লেগেছিল স্ট্রাইকারের। গোলরক্ষক ভেবেছিলেন এটি গোলবারের উপর দিয়ে উড়ে যাবে, কিন্তু বলটি তীক্ষ্ণভাবে ঘুরিয়ে গোলপোস্টে ঢুকে পড়ে। খেলার 65 মিনিটে গোলটি করা হয়েছিল এবং উভয় দলই আরও কিছু নিরর্থক প্রচেষ্টা করলেও সেটিই ছিল নির্ধারক।

খেলার শেষ মিনিট পর্যন্ত ম্যাচটি খুবই উত্তেজনাপূর্ণ এবং রোমাঞ্চকর ছিল। আমি এটি খুব উপভোগ করেছিলাম. এটা আমার স্মৃতিতে অনেকদিন থাকবে।
