Dear Edmund, 

I have received your letter. In your letter you have wanted to know about our country. Bangladesh is a small low-lying country in the south Asia on the Bay of Bengal. Bangladesh became independent in 1971 at the cost of supreme sacrifice of many valiant sons. The ancient city Dhaka is the capital of Bangladesh. People of different religions live here. They are mostly Muslims, Hindus, Christians, Buddhists. People of different tribes also live here. Bangladesh has an age old tradition and customs. People observe different festivals on different occasions. The most common customs and traditions the people observe are Pahela Baishakh, Nabanna, Pahela Falgun etc. Since Bangladesh is the darling child of nature, she has got some attractive tourist spots which are full of natural scenic beauty. So the country has many tourist spots. They are Cox's Bazar sea beach, Kuakata, the Sundarbans, the Shatgombuj Mosque, the Buddhist Bihara etc. No more today. I shall be very happy if you let me know about your country.

আমি আপনার চিঠি পেয়েছি. আপনার চিঠিতে আপনি আমাদের দেশ সম্পর্কে জানতে চেয়েছেন। বাংলাদেশ দক্ষিণ এশিয়ার বঙ্গোপসাগরের তীরে অবস্থিত একটি ছোট নিম্নভূমির দেশ। বহু বীর সন্তানের সর্বোচ্চ আত্মত্যাগের মূল্যে ১৯৭১ সালে বাংলাদেশ স্বাধীন হয়। প্রাচীন শহর ঢাকা বাংলাদেশের রাজধানী। এখানে বিভিন্ন ধর্মের মানুষের বসবাস। তারা বেশিরভাগই মুসলিম, হিন্দু, খ্রিস্টান, বৌদ্ধ। বিভিন্ন উপজাতির মানুষও এখানে বসবাস করে। বাংলাদেশের প্রাচীন ঐতিহ্য ও রীতিনীতি রয়েছে। মানুষ বিভিন্ন উপলক্ষে বিভিন্ন উৎসব পালন করে। পহেলা বৈশাখ, নবান্ন, পহেলা ফাল্গুন প্রভৃতি মানুষ পালন করে সবচেয়ে সাধারণ প্রথা ও ঐতিহ্য। বাংলাদেশ যেহেতু প্রকৃতির প্রিয় সন্তান তাই সে কিছু আকর্ষণীয় পর্যটন স্পট পেয়েছে যা প্রাকৃতিক নৈসর্গিক সৌন্দর্যে ভরপুর। তাই দেশটিতে অনেক পর্যটন স্পট রয়েছে। সেগুলো হলো কক্সবাজার সমুদ্র সৈকত, কুয়াকাটা, সুন্দরবন, ষাটগম্বুজ মসজিদ, বৌদ্ধ বিহার ইত্যাদি। আজ আর নেই। আপনি যদি আমাকে আপনার দেশ সম্পর্কে জানান তবে আমি খুব খুশি হব।
