Corruption Paragraph 

Corruption means dishonest or illegal behaviour especially of people in authority present in our country. There is hardly anyone who is not well acquainted with the very word "corruption". Today each and every government sector of the country is rotten to the core because of the widespread practice of corruption by the people who are at the helm of power, by the officers, by the clerks and so on. The country has topped the list five times from the view point of corruption. 

However there are many reasons behind this galloping corruption. Thirst for power, pelf, wealth and money is the root cause of corruption. Greed, avarice and dishonesty, nepotism and favouritism also contribute to the cause of corruption. The consequence of corruption has a far reaching negative effect on socio-economic condition of our country. 

It has made the country a bottomless basket. It has corroded the economy, retarted the economic growth and baffled the various development programmes. By practising corruption the corrupt are growing richer and richer and the poor are becoming poorer and poorer. The widespread practice of corruption should not be allowed to go uncontrolled. 

The corrupted people should be brought down with an iron rod. It should be checked, controlled and prevented at any cost so that the country get rid of this national malady elopment and the people not involved in it can heave a sigh of relief and hope for the best and better days. They should be rewarded with due punishment. 

Even their wealth and money can be confiscated and they may be meted with life long rigorous imprisonment. The mass media, the papers, magazines, journals, articles and above all the consciousness of the enlightened people can play a vital role in curbing the gallopping corruption. Now is the proper time to raise voice, take necessary steps and punitive measures against the corrupted society.

অর্থঃ দুর্নীতি মানে বিশেষ করে আমাদের দেশে বর্তমান কর্তৃপক্ষের অসাধু বা অবৈধ আচরণ। খুব কমই এমন কেউ আছে যে "দুর্নীতি" শব্দটির সাথে ভালভাবে পরিচিত নয়। ক্ষমতার অধিষ্ঠিত ব্যক্তি, কর্মকর্তা, কেরানি ইত্যাদির ব্যাপক দুর্নীতির কারণে আজ দেশের প্রতিটি সরকারী সেক্টর মূলে পচে গেছে। দুর্নীতির দৃষ্টিকোণ থেকে পাঁচবার শীর্ষে রয়েছে দেশটি।

তবে এই ঝাঁপিয়ে পড়া দুর্নীতির পেছনে অনেক কারণ রয়েছে। ক্ষমতা, পেলফ, সম্পদ এবং অর্থের তৃষ্ণা দুর্নীতির মূল কারণ। লোভ, লোভ ও অসততা, স্বজনপ্রীতি ও পক্ষপাতিত্বও দুর্নীতির কারণ হয়ে দাঁড়ায়। দুর্নীতির পরিণতি আমাদের দেশের আর্থ-সামাজিক অবস্থার উপর সুদূরপ্রসারী নেতিবাচক প্রভাব ফেলে।

দেশকে তলাবিহীন ঝুড়িতে পরিণত করেছে। এটি অর্থনীতিকে ক্ষয় করেছে, অর্থনৈতিক প্রবৃদ্ধি আবার শুরু করেছে এবং বিভিন্ন উন্নয়ন কর্মসূচিকে বিভ্রান্ত করেছে। দুর্নীতি চর্চার মাধ্যমে দুর্নীতিবাজরা ধনী থেকে ধনী হচ্ছে এবং গরিবরা আরও দরিদ্র থেকে গরিব হচ্ছে। দুর্নীতির ব্যাপক চর্চাকে অনিয়ন্ত্রিত হতে দেওয়া উচিত নয়।

লোহার রড দিয়ে দুর্নীতিবাজদের নামাতে হবে। যে কোনো মূল্যে এটি পরীক্ষা, নিয়ন্ত্রণ এবং প্রতিরোধ করা উচিত যাতে দেশ এই জাতীয় অসুস্থতা থেকে পরিত্রাণ পায় এবং এতে জড়িত নয় এমন লোকেরা স্বস্তির নিঃশ্বাস ফেলতে পারে এবং সর্বোত্তম এবং ভাল দিনের আশা করতে পারে। তাদের উপযুক্ত শাস্তি দেওয়া উচিত।

এমনকি তাদের সম্পদ ও অর্থ বাজেয়াপ্ত করা যেতে পারে এবং তাদের যাবজ্জীবন সশ্রম কারাদণ্ড দেওয়া হতে পারে। গণমাধ্যম, পেপার, ম্যাগাজিন, জার্নাল, প্রবন্ধ এবং সর্বোপরি আলোকিত মানুষের চেতনা গলদঘর্ম দুর্নীতি দমনে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা রাখতে পারে। কলুষিত সমাজের বিরুদ্ধে আওয়াজ তোলা, প্রয়োজনীয় পদক্ষেপ ও শাস্তিমূলক ব্যবস্থা নেওয়ার এখনই উপযুক্ত সময়।

Corruption means adopting unfairmeans to achieve something illegally. At present, corruption has become one of the most alarming problems in Bangladesh. There are a number of causes behind corruption. Unemployment, lack of good governance, lack of morality, inadequacy of salary, political instabilities etc. have led to the expansion of corruption. In Bangladesh, corruption has enlarged its paw in administrative, commercial and political sectors. The most usual form of corruption is bribery. However, there are other forms of corruption too, such as inequal distribution of government funds, nepotism in public services etc. Corruption cripples a nation. Economic disparity among people becomes acute and the chances for foreign investments are minimised. Therefore, it is time for us to fight against corruption. Anti-Corruption Commission has already been formed to prevent corruption. Besides, it is necessary to upgrade the morality and human values of the people. Media can also take a strong stand against corruption. In addition, good governance, increase of job facilities and strict enforcement of legal rules can prevent corruption. Finally, all of us must raise a campaign to combat bribery and corruption for a better and corruption free Bangladesh.

অর্থঃ দুর্নীতি মানে বেআইনিভাবে কিছু অর্জনের জন্য অন্যায় উপায় অবলম্বন করা। বর্তমানে বাংলাদেশে দুর্নীতি অন্যতম উদ্বেগজনক সমস্যা হয়ে দাঁড়িয়েছে। দুর্নীতির পেছনে অনেকগুলো কারণ রয়েছে। বেকারত্ব, সুশাসনের অভাব, নৈতিকতার অভাব, বেতনের অপ্রতুলতা, রাজনৈতিক অস্থিতিশীলতা ইত্যাদি কারণে দুর্নীতির প্রসার ঘটেছে। বাংলাদেশে প্রশাসনিক, বাণিজ্যিক ও রাজনৈতিক ক্ষেত্রে দুর্নীতি তার থাবা বাড়িয়ে দিয়েছে। দুর্নীতির সবচেয়ে সাধারণ রূপ হল ঘুষ। যাইহোক, দুর্নীতির অন্যান্য রূপও রয়েছে, যেমন সরকারি তহবিলের অসম বণ্টন, সরকারি পরিষেবায় স্বজনপ্রীতি ইত্যাদি। দুর্নীতি একটি জাতিকে পঙ্গু করে। মানুষের মধ্যে অর্থনৈতিক বৈষম্য তীব্র হয় এবং বিদেশী বিনিয়োগের সম্ভাবনা হ্রাস পায়। তাই দুর্নীতির বিরুদ্ধে লড়াই করার সময় এসেছে। দুর্নীতি প্রতিরোধে ইতোমধ্যে দুর্নীতি দমন কমিশন গঠন করা হয়েছে। এছাড়া মানুষের নৈতিকতা ও মানবিক মূল্যবোধের মানোন্নয়ন প্রয়োজন। মিডিয়াও দুর্নীতির বিরুদ্ধে শক্ত অবস্থান নিতে পারে। এ ছাড়া সুশাসন, চাকরির সুযোগ-সুবিধা বৃদ্ধি এবং আইনি বিধি-বিধানের কঠোর প্রয়োগ দুর্নীতি প্রতিরোধ করতে পারে। পরিশেষে, একটি উন্নত ও দুর্নীতিমুক্ত বাংলাদেশের জন্য আমাদের সকলকে ঘুষ-দুর্নীতির বিরুদ্ধে অভিযান চালাতে হবে।
