Once there were three friends in a forest. They were a deer, a crow and a jackal. One day the crow saved the deer from a hunter. Since that day the crow and the deer were great friends. One day the crow got ill and the deer went to the field alone. 

The jackal took the opportunity and with an ill intention, he made friendship with the deer. The deer did not know his intension and introduced him to the crow. Since then they were all friends. One day the jackal took the deer to a field to eat corn and one night while eating the corn from that field, the deer fell into the trap set by a farmer. 

The jackal saw him in the net but did not help him. Rather he was waiting for some pieces of bones and flesh of the deer. He wanted to have a good meal. So, he hid himself in a bush. But when the crow did not find the deer, he became worried. 

After searching for a long time he found him caught in the net. The crow applied his ready wit and somehow managed to save his life. On the other hand, being failed to hunt the deer, the farmer took up his club and threw it at the deer. It did not hit the deer but it hit the jackal behind in the bush and it dropped down dead.

অর্থঃ একবার এক বনে তিন বন্ধু ছিল। তারা ছিল একটি হরিণ, একটি কাক এবং একটি শিয়াল। একদিন কাক এক শিকারীর হাত থেকে হরিণটিকে বাঁচাল। সেদিন থেকে কাক আর হরিণ পরম বন্ধু। একদিন কাক অসুস্থ হয়ে পড়ল এবং হরিণ একা মাঠে গেল।

শৃগাল সুযোগটি নিয়ে অসৎ উদ্দেশ্য নিয়ে হরিণের সাথে বন্ধুত্ব করে। হরিণটি তার উদ্দেশ্য বুঝতে না পেরে তাকে কাকের সাথে পরিচয় করিয়ে দিল। তারপর থেকে তারা সবাই বন্ধু। একদিন শিয়াল হরিণটিকে ভুট্টা খেতে একটি ক্ষেতে নিয়ে যায় এবং একদিন রাতে সেই ক্ষেত থেকে ভুট্টা খাওয়ার সময় হরিণটি এক কৃষকের ফাঁদে পড়ে যায়।

শেয়াল তাকে জালে দেখল কিন্তু সাহায্য করল না। বরং সে অপেক্ষা করছিল হরিণের কিছু হাড় ও মাংসের টুকরোর জন্য। তিনি একটি ভাল খাবার খেতে চেয়েছিলেন। তাই সে নিজেকে একটা ঝোপের মধ্যে লুকিয়ে রাখল। কিন্তু কাক হরিণটিকে না পেয়ে চিন্তিত হয়ে পড়েন।

অনেকক্ষণ খোঁজাখুঁজির পর তাকে জালে ধরা পড়ে। কাক তার প্রস্তুত বুদ্ধি প্রয়োগ করে কোনোভাবে তার জীবন বাঁচাতে সক্ষম হয়। অন্যদিকে, হরিণ শিকারে ব্যর্থ হওয়ায় কৃষক তার ক্লাবটি নিয়ে হরিণটির দিকে ছুড়ে মারেন। এটি হরিণকে আঘাত করেনি তবে এটি ঝোপের পিছনে শেয়ালটিকে আঘাত করে এবং এটি মরে নিচে পড়ে যায়।
