A village market is an important place to the villagers. The villagers buy and sell their daily necessaries in a village market. A village market generally sits in an open place of the village. Usually a village market is divided into three sections-open space, temporary shops and permanent shops. Vegetable, milk, fish, fruit, curry and other essential things are sold in the open space. From the grocers' people buy oil, salt, onion, garlic, ginger, pulse etc. In the permanent shops cloth shoes, wheat, rice, flour, ghee, spices and different stationary items are sold. A village market is very useful and important in the life of the villagers. Here they meet their kith and kin and variety of people. A village market is an important place to the villagers. It is a market place in a village! where the villagers go to buy and sell various things. A village market usually sits on the bank of a small river or a canal or by the side of a highway. It also sits on crossroads. It sits once or twice a week in the afternoon. The villagers come to the market on foot or by rickshaws. In the low-lying areas, the villagers come to their market by small boats. In a village market, the villagers buy and sell different kinds of food-grains and other commodities. They buy and sell all kinds of daily necessaries here. It is, in fact, the primary centre to meet people's need. It also serves as a centre of the villagers to improve their economic condition. It is again a meeting place of the villagers. Here they meet and greet their friends and relatives who also come to buy and sell their things. Thus a village market bears a great social importance too.

A village market is an important place in a village. It is an opportunity to the village people to sell their goods and to buy their necessaries. It usually stands on the bank of a river. or at the junction of roads or in an open place under a large tree. Some village markets sit daily between ten and twelve o'clock. Some village markets sit once or twice in a week. The number of permanent shops is very small. The people of the surrounding villages come there as buyers and sellers. The shops are arranged in order of things for sale. The rice shops, the cloth shops, the vegetable shops and the fish shops sit at different places. It is not very easy to buy things in a village market. The shop keeper never tells his customers the exact prices of their things. They usually demand much higher price. The deal is settled after much haggling and bargaining. So there is a great noise in a village market.
