Every free nation has a flag of its own. It is the symbol of independence and sovereignty  of a free  country. Bangladesh is also a free country. So she has got a flag of her own. Her people feel proud of her flag because it means that Bangladesh is a free and sovereign country. It reminds us of the valiant struggle of our freedom fighters to set the country free. Its shape is rectangular having a proportion of 10:6. It is of different sizes according to its use. The flag is hoisted everyday on top of our important government buildings and educational institutions. It is hoisted everywhere on the occasions of the independence day and the victory day. The national flag is kept half mast on the occasions of national mourning days. There are two colours. They are green and red. The green is the symbol of the youth and the red is the symbol of the sacrifices of the freedom fighters who laid down their lives. We salute the national flag and remember the supreme sacrifice of our freedom fighters. I feel very proud of my national flag because whenever and wherever I see national flag it reminds me that I am a citizen of a free country. I can uphold its honour by doing our national duties properly.

অর্থঃ প্রতিটি স্বাধীন জাতির নিজস্ব পতাকা আছে। এটি একটি স্বাধীন দেশের স্বাধীনতা ও সার্বভৌমত্বের প্রতীক। বাংলাদেশও স্বাধীন দেশ। তাই সে তার নিজের একটি পতাকা পেয়েছে। তার জনগণ তার পতাকা নিয়ে গর্ববোধ করে কারণ এর অর্থ বাংলাদেশ একটি স্বাধীন ও সার্বভৌম দেশ। দেশ স্বাধীন করার জন্য আমাদের মুক্তিযোদ্ধাদের বীরত্বপূর্ণ সংগ্রামের কথা মনে করিয়ে দেয়। এর আকৃতি আয়তক্ষেত্রাকার যার অনুপাত 10:6। এটি ব্যবহার অনুযায়ী বিভিন্ন আকারের হয়। আমাদের গুরুত্বপূর্ণ সরকারি ভবন ও শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠানের উপরে প্রতিদিন পতাকা উত্তোলন করা হয়। স্বাধীনতা দিবস ও বিজয় দিবস উপলক্ষে এটি সর্বত্র উত্তোলন করা হয়। জাতীয় শোক দিবসে জাতীয় পতাকা অর্ধনমিত রাখা হয়। দুটি রং আছে। তারা সবুজ এবং লাল। সবুজ হলো তারুণ্যের প্রতীক আর লাল হলো জীবন উৎসর্গকারী মুক্তিযোদ্ধাদের আত্মত্যাগের প্রতীক। আমরা জাতীয় পতাকাকে স্যালুট করি এবং আমাদের মুক্তিযোদ্ধাদের সর্বোচ্চ আত্মত্যাগকে স্মরণ করি। আমি আমার জাতীয় পতাকা নিয়ে খুব গর্বিত বোধ করি কারণ আমি যখনই এবং যেখানেই জাতীয় পতাকা দেখি তা আমাকে মনে করিয়ে দেয় যে আমি একটি স্বাধীন দেশের নাগরিক। জাতীয় দায়িত্ব যথাযথভাবে পালন করে এর সম্মান রক্ষা করতে পারি।

National flag is a piece of fabric with a special coloured design used as the token of a particular country. It is the symbol of independence of a nation. Every nation of the world has a national flag of its own. Bangladesh has also a national flag. We achieved it in 1971. The proportion of its length and breadth is 10:6. It is a piece of rectangular green cloth with a round disclike red patch in the middle. The radius of the red circle is one-fifth of the length of the flag. The green colour represents the admiration of youthful vigour. It also stands for the green fields and the ever green forest of Bangladesh. The red circle symbolizes the rising sun with new hopes and aspiration of a new nation. The red colour also symbolizes blood. It reminds us the history of our independence. Many heroic sons of this soil sacrificed their lives for the cause of independence. After a bloody war Bangladesh finally became independent on 16th December 1971. The green and red colour of our national flag represent the spirit of our independence. The national flag is hoisted in the premises of all govt. offices in Bangladesh. It is kept half mast on national mourning days. Our national flag always inspires us to dedicate our lives for the greater interest of the country. We can uphold its honour by doing our duties to the nation properly.

অর্থঃ জাতীয় পতাকা হল কাপড়ের একটি টুকরো যার একটি বিশেষ রঙিন নকশা একটি নির্দিষ্ট দেশের টোকেন হিসাবে ব্যবহৃত হয়। এটি একটি জাতির স্বাধীনতার প্রতীক। বিশ্বের প্রতিটি জাতির নিজস্ব একটি জাতীয় পতাকা রয়েছে। বাংলাদেশের জাতীয় পতাকাও রয়েছে। আমরা 1971 সালে এটি অর্জন করেছি। এর দৈর্ঘ্য এবং প্রস্থের অনুপাত 10:6। এটি একটি আয়তক্ষেত্রাকার সবুজ কাপড়ের টুকরো যার মাঝখানে একটি বৃত্তাকার ডিসলাইক লাল প্যাচ রয়েছে। লাল বৃত্তের ব্যাসার্ধ পতাকার দৈর্ঘ্যের এক-পঞ্চমাংশ। সবুজ রঙ তারুণ্যের প্রাণশক্তির প্রশংসা করে। এটি বাংলাদেশের সবুজ মাঠ এবং চির সবুজ বনের জন্যও দাঁড়িয়েছে। লাল বৃত্ত একটি নতুন জাতির নতুন আশা এবং আকাঙ্ক্ষা সহ উদীয়মান সূর্যের প্রতীক। লাল রং রক্তেরও প্রতীক। এটা আমাদের স্বাধীনতার ইতিহাস স্মরণ করিয়ে দেয়। এই মাটির অনেক বীর সন্তান স্বাধীনতার জন্য জীবন উৎসর্গ করেছেন। এক রক্তক্ষয়ী যুদ্ধের পর অবশেষে ১৯৭১ সালের ১৬ ডিসেম্বর বাংলাদেশ স্বাধীন হয়। আমাদের জাতীয় পতাকার সবুজ ও লাল রং আমাদের স্বাধীনতার চেতনার প্রতিনিধিত্ব করে। সকল সরকারি প্রতিষ্ঠানের প্রাঙ্গণে জাতীয় পতাকা উত্তোলন করা হয়। বাংলাদেশে অফিস। জাতীয় শোক দিবসে এটি অর্ধেক মাস্তুল রাখা হয়। দেশের বৃহত্তর স্বার্থে আমাদের জীবন উৎসর্গ করতে আমাদের জাতীয় পতাকা সবসময় অনুপ্রাণিত করে। জাতির প্রতি আমাদের দায়িত্ব যথাযথভাবে পালন করে আমরা এর সম্মান সমুন্নত রাখতে পারি।

অর্থঃ একটি জাতীয় পতাকা একটি জাতির সার্বভৌমত্ব এবং স্বাধীন পরিচয়ের প্রতীক। এটি সারা বিশ্বের কাছে দেশটিকে পরিচিত করে। প্রতিটি স্বাধীন দেশের নিজস্ব একটি জাতীয় পতাকা রয়েছে। আমাদের নিজস্ব জাতীয় পতাকা আছে। আমাদের জাতীয় পতাকা আমাদের জাতীয় জীবনের সবচেয়ে বড় অর্জন। এটা আমাদের গৌরব ও গৌরব। 1971 সালে আমরা বাংলাদেশ এবং তার পতাকা নামে একটি নতুন স্বাধীন দেশ অর্জন করি। আমাদের পতাকাটি কেন্দ্রে একটি লাল বৃত্ত সহ সবুজ। সবুজ রঙ এই সবুজ দেশের শান্তিপূর্ণ তারুণ্যের প্রতীক, এবং লাল বৃত্ত স্বাধীনতার সূর্যের প্রতীক। আমাদের পতাকার দৈর্ঘ্য ও প্রস্থের অনুপাত 10:6 এবং লাল সূর্যের ব্যাসার্ধ তার দৈর্ঘ্যের এক পঞ্চমাংশ। আমাদের জাতীয় পতাকার ডিজাইনার কামরুল হাসান। আমাদের সরকারি অফিস ভবনে জাতীয় পতাকা উত্তোলন করা হয়। অন্যান্য দেশের বাংলাদেশ হাইকমিশনেও জাতীয় পতাকা উত্তোলন করা হয়। জাতিসংঘেও আমাদের দেশের পতাকা উত্তোলন করা হয়। বিদেশে শান্তিরক্ষা মিশনে দায়িত্বরত আমাদের সেনা সদস্যরা পতাকা বহন করে। আমাদের রাষ্ট্রপতি, প্রধানমন্ত্রী এবং অন্যান্য মন্ত্রীরা পতাকাবাহী গাড়িতে চলাচল করেন। আমরা যেকোনো মূল্যে এর সম্মান অক্ষুণ্ন রাখতে বদ্ধপরিকর।
